New Delhi: Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra lambasted Sri Lankan off-spinner Suraj Randiv for denying Indian opener Virender Sehwag a well-deserved ODI century by bowling a ‘deliberate’ no-ball that brought the Indian victory when Sehwag was just a run away from his ton.
“I think Sehwag deserves the hundred. Why should you want to break the spirit of a gentleman’s game that cricket is?”
He further said that it was not the right way to deny a well deserved century to a player. “If you don’t want him to reach his century or any other milestone, get him out. Why you have to take the unethical rout to stop a cricketer? How will you feel if anybody does the same thing to you?” asked Sehwag’s Delhi Daredevils team mate.
“Sri Lanka are a good ODI team and they should adhere to the spirit of the game. But what they did on Monday is not a sign of a good team,” said Mishra, who was in the Indian team for a recently-concluded three-match Test-series that ended in a 1-1 tie.

Asked if the rule was flawed that prevented Sehwag reach his hundred despite hitting a six off a no-ball, the leg-spinner, who plays Ranji Trophy for Haryana, said it should be looked into by the cricket’s apex governing body, ICC, and he couldn’t comment on that.
“The governing body should take a call on this. I can’t comment on whether rule should be changed or not,” said Mishra.
